There is much to do in and around Guymon. Take time, for example, to visit the Game Reserve; tour our historic downtown area; swim at the local pool; play golf at our beautiful 18 hole municipal golf course; see a movie, or relax in one of the many parks around town. There are also numerous special events throughout the year, such as the Pioneer Days festival, the Doc Gardner College Rodeo, the Pumpkin Patch Crafts Festival, and concerts, live theater and more from local groups.
If you want to explore the Guymon area, you could take a short drive to area recreation opportunities for fishing, biking, hiking, RVing, and more. If you are looking for a little longer excursion, Guymon is very near many other local areas of interest.
The Parks and Recreation Department provides parks, facilities and recreational opportunities for all residents of Guymon. Programs and services are provided at parks and sites throughout Guymon including Thompson Park, the Senior Citizens Center, the YMCA and Fowler Park.
East of Sunset Lane, entrances at NW Fifth and at SW 2nd on Sunset Lane. 50 acre park with 17 acre Sunset Lake, 13 shelters with 19 picnic tables, 25 open picnic tables, 4 horseshoe pits, 4 swing sets, volleyball court, 4 climbers, 2 merry-go-rounds, 2 slides, miniature train ride, paddle boats, lighted basketball court, disc golf course, large pavillion, and a one mile lighted walking trail with benches.
The 32-acre Sunset Lake is seasonally stocked with catfish and trout and is bordered by a one-mile lighted walking trail that is handicap accessible. Fishing season is from January to April.
The park offers paddle boats for rent. During the summer months, Lions Club operate a miniature train that runs around the lake.
West of Sunset Lane, enter on NW Fifth Street. Sitting to the north of Thompson Park, across the dam, is the 300 acre Guymon Game Reserve. Driving up to the reserve fence or sitting on one of the park benches, you may be able to view Aoudad sheep, llamas, buffalo, prairie dogs, African Watusi and Longhorn cattle and elk.

Optima Dam Recreational Facility
The facility offers excellent pheasant and deer hunting. Phone (580) 338-3376.
Pheasant Ridge Hunting
Off County Rd 7, Hooker Ok
September 1st thru March 31st
Pheasant, deer and quail hunting lodge located in the middle of the Oklahoma Panhandle. Guided hunts that cover 2000 acres of nature's perfect game habitat. Facilities including lodging, cooked meals and game room. Transportation and temporary hunting licenses are provided by the lodge.
Johnsonville Motocross Park
Johnsonville MX Park is a new motocross facility in the Oklahoma Panhandle. The Park was the brainchild of David Johnson, Davey Johnson, Brett Wilson, Kim Hinds, Chase Cossell, Aaron Pritchard, and Jonathon Byers. The MX Park location from Texhoma is 5 miles east on Hwy. 54 to mile 18, then south 1.5 miles. From Guymon go 15 miles west on Hwy. 54 to mile 18 then south 1.5 miles. WATCH FOR SIGNS.
Centennial Park, ET Guymon Park
Located at the junctions of Highway 3, 54, 64, and 136. 5 acre park with ¼ mile walking trail, 2 benches, gazebo, pond with a fountain and water fall, windmill, antique farm equipment, petroleum industry exhibit, Demolay monument, elevated plaza with historical plaques, clock, and American flag display.
Texas County YMCA
Basketball, indoor pool, weightroom, and much more.
Entrance at NW 15th and Canyon. 10 acres of park area in the developmental stage. Site of the YMCA, walking trail, and soccer field.
Municipal Swimming Pool
Enter at NE 13th (Medical Drive) and Ellison.
Enter at NW 17th and Ellison. 6 acres including 1 swing set, a modular playstructure, basketball court, 2 tennis courts, 1 sheltered picnic table.
NE 12th and Crumley Streets. 4 acres includes 2 teeter-totters, slide, climbing bars, swing set, picnic tables under 40x100 shelter, 1 cooker, 6 tennis courts, a play structures for the handicapped.
Grider Tot Park
NE 9th and East Streets. Tot park that includes a swing set, riding animals, modular play structure, merry-go-round, slide, picnic table, and two benches.
Located between SW 2nd and 3rd and Canyon and Oklahoma Streets. 2 acre park with 3 swing sets, 2 climbers, picnic tables, and merry-go-round.
No Man's Land Regional Park
Located on Highway 3 East, enter at Perkins or Morgan Streets. 7 acres with a swing set, climbing gym, skateboard park, 6 sheltered picnic tables, 6 grills, American flag display.
Located on May Street between SE 7th and 8th Streets. 1 acre with 20 x 50 pavilion, new modular playground structure, new restroom, swing set, climbing gym, and grill.
Located on Sunset Drive in the SW part of town, south of the golf course. Pocket park with picnic table.
9 Hole Disc Golf Course
Located on the north side of Thompson Park, just east of the Wildlife Refuge.
Undeveloped future park area located at NE 17th and Johnson Streets. Accepted by the city May 1996.
East Street. Numerous softball, t-ball, baseball, football, and soccer fields, basketball courts.
Asa Howard Field
American Legion baseball field.
